Father, walk with us as we seal these songs of ascent in our hearts. Walk with us as you walked with Israel out of Egypt. May these words be a guiding light through the dark times and a pillar of hope when we arrive in the wilderness. We love you and we praise you. Bless you, Father. Today we're reading Psalm 121. I look up to the mountains. Does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let you stumble. The one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord Himself watches over you. The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. Take a moment to sit with the words of Psalm one twenty one. Many ancient cultures had their sites of worship atop mountains. While on the pilgrimage to Jerusalem, the temptation to turn aside to the offers of other gods would have been plentiful. These sites are not relegated to the top of a mountain. They exist in our daily life. When the temptation to take the easier road comes, remember Psalm 121. Our help does not come from the top of a mountain. It comes from the one who made the mountain.
