The Peace We Need - 3 | Matthew 6:31–34
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This reflection shows that peace grows when we trust God with the future instead of trying to secure what has not yet happened. It invites us to stay present and seek Him first, believing that He already knows and cares for what lies ahead.

“May the Lord bless you and keep you — and may His presence guide you this week.”
Today I am reading Matthew six, verses thirty one through thirty four. Therefore do not be anxious, saying what will we eat, what will we drink, or what will we wear? For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
SPEAKER_00Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Anxiety thrives in the ifs, the mays, and the coulds.
SPEAKER_01What if this happens? This choice may be wrong. All things that are out of our control. And even when today feels manageable, tomorrow can feel uncertain. Jesus speaks specifically about this idea. Don't worry saying, what will we eat, what will we drink, what will we wear? These are not trivial concerns, they're the basics of life, provision, security, and stability. Jesus is not dismissing the reality of need, he's addressing the posture we take towards it. Worry tries to solve tomorrow in advance. It reaches forward, trying to secure what's not yet arrived, but in doing so, it pulls us out of the present and under a burden we were never meant to carry. Jesus offers a different way. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them. God is not unaware, he's not late to recognize what is needed. Before the concern becomes ours, it's already known to him. So Jesus redirects the focus. Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Instead of building our lives around securing the future, Jesus calls us to center our lives on God's rule and his way. Trust is not passive. It's an active reorientation. It's choosing what will prioritize. Peace doesn't come from having the future fully mapped out. It begins when we trust God with what we cannot yet see and stay present with what has been placed in front of us today.
SPEAKER_00Before I close in prayer, here's a question to wrestle with.
SPEAKER_01Help me to trust you with what is ahead and stay present in what you've given me today. Teach me to seek you first and rest in your care.
