The River of Life | Revelation 22:1–5

Send us a text

In Revelation 22:1-5 John writes, “The angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.”

In this episode, we reflect on how the living water Jesus offered in John 4 isn’t just a sip for today—it’s a stream that flows all the way to eternity. From the throne of God and the Lamb, the river of life nourishes the tree of life and heals the nations.

The water Christ gives doesn’t run dry. It’s not momentary relief—it’s an eternal current, carrying us into the heart of heaven.

Did You Know?
Revelation ends where Genesis began—with a garden and a river. Jesus is the link between the beginning and the end, the well and the waterfall.

Quote:
“The river of God’s grace never runs dry—and never stands still.” — Charles Spurgeon

Scripture Reading

“The tree of life was on each side of the river, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. And there will no longer be any curse.” — Revelation 22:2–3

Welcome

Howdy everyone, and welcome back to the Waypoint Devotional Podcast. Whatever time of day you’re listening, we hope your day is blessed and that you’re tuned in to the love God has for you.

God’s presence never leaves, but in the rush of daily life it can be easy to lose track of Him. Once we become aware of that drift, we can pause, quiet our hearts, and realign our spirits with His presence.

Take this moment to slow down, breathe deeply, and tune back into God’s grace.

Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:1–5

“Then he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the city’s main street.

The tree of life was on each side of the river, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations, and there will no longer be any curse.

The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will worship Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. Night will be no more. People will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever.”

Reflection

It’s easy to think of Jesus’ living water as a momentary relief—something to get us through the day or the week. But in Revelation 22, we see where the water is really headed: all the way to the end of the story. All the way to the throne.

John, the same author who recorded the story of the woman at the well, now sees the source of that water clearly. It flows from God and the Lamb—unstoppable, life-giving, radiant. And it nourishes the tree of life, which bears fruit year-round for the healing of the nations.

What Jesus offered in John 4 wasn’t just a cup. It was a current. A spring that becomes a river—flowing through history and into the heart of heaven. That means our thirst isn’t just quenched for now. It’s quenched forever.

So when you feel dry or weary today, remember: the water you drink in Christ doesn’t run dry. It keeps flowing. And it’s taking you somewhere beautiful.

As we close, here’s a reflection question: Do I treat Jesus’ water like a sip for now—or as a stream that leads into eternity?

Prayer

Jesus, keep me rooted in Your stream of life.

Let Your grace carry me all the way through eternity.

Amen.
