The heavens are preaching. In Psalm 19, David reminds us that creation itself declares God’s glory, and Scripture reveals His heart. Are we listening?

[Intro Scripture Reading]

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of His hands.”— Psalm 19:1

[Host Welcome]

Howdy everyone, and happy Friday! Welcome back to the Waypoint Devotional Podcast. Whatever time of day you’re listening, we hope your day is blessed and that you’re tuned in to the love God has for you.

God’s presence never leaves us — but in the rush of our day-to-day lives, it can be easy to lose track of our awareness of Him.

Once we notice that drift, we can pause, quiet our hearts, and realign our spirits with His presence.

Take this moment to slow down.

Take a few deep breaths.

And tune back into God’s grace.

[Scripture Focus]

Today’s devotional takes us into the Psalms as we continue our journey through the Gospel of John reading plan, which you can follow along with on the Church Center app.

We’re reading from Psalm 19:1–6:

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of His hands. Day after day they pour out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge. There is no speech; there are no words; their voice is not heard. Their message has gone out to the whole earth, and their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens, He has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming from his home; it rejoices like an athlete running a course. It rises from one end of the heavens and circles to the other end; nothing is hidden from its heat.”

[Reflection]

Look up.

That’s David’s advice in Psalm 19. The heavens aren’t just beautiful — they’re preaching. Day and night, the sky declares the glory of God. Creation has a voice, and it’s not subtle.

But David doesn’t stop there. He moves from the sky to the Scriptures. God’s Word, he says, revives the soul, gives wisdom, and rejoices the heart.

John echoes this same truth when he writes: “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”

Jesus isn’t just the Maker of light — He’s the one who brings light to the eyes of our soul.

[Closing Question & Prayer]

As we close, here’s today’s reflection question:

Am I listening for God with open eyes and an open heart?

Prayer:

“God, open my eyes and heart to what You are doing in my life. Help me see Your presence and Your work in this world, through us and for us.”

Amen.
